Smith & Tegio
Smith & Tegio
Smith & Tegio is a duo featuring vocalists and acoustic guitarists Austin Smith and Mark Tegio. While these two singer songwriters and long time friends are both San Diego natives, they have been living in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past several years now. Mostly passing those years sitting at a kitchen table littered with beer cans and a dirty ashtray either writing, learning, or playing songs together. It was at those tables that Smith & Tegio's amalgam of outlaw country and folk music was born. It’s the inevitable result of a bad case of wanderlust from a head full of Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings, and a heart full of Townes Van Zandt and Blaze Foley that doesn't know whether to laugh or cry. Still, they do not fit neatly into either genre, but instead have created their own blend of the two: Outlaw folk. Smith & Tegio released their self-titled debut album earlier this year. Throughout the album there are subtle nods to the duo's outlaw country and folk influences.
EllaHarp
EllaHarp
An instrument like the harp doesn’t exactly inspire imagery of driving bass lines and mainstream appeal, and that’s what Bay Area based harpist, singer/songwriter Ella Dawn Jenkins, aka EllaHarp is working to change.

Armed with a fresh take on contemporary blues, the musical lineage of composer/arranger Gordon Jenkins, and a unique instrument she designed for the purpose, EllaHarp is pushing the harp out of type-cast expectations and doing things differently.

Since the independent release of her first album in February (‘Who Asked You Back, released 2.3.18), EllaHarp has toured 6 states with more than 80 live performances, from Irish pubs in Honolulu to 'The Bitter End' in New York City to opening for Grammy winning singer Mya at the Music Box in San Diego.

J.D. Stone and the Dread Rider brings their roots of country and western, soul and psychedelic rock and roll for a project called Songs of the Tarot. The tarot album consists of twenty-two songs, one for each of the cards of the Major Arcana. The narrative of the album follows Jet Dread Stone and his emanating nemesis, The Dread Rider, on a spiritual erotic journey. These two figures, along with their accomplices and victims, intertwine in the formal and textual elements of the songs. The cosmic mythos of the story anticipates the destruction of the human race in the final judgment by fire and the ascendancy of the lower forces of living matter.

In October 2017, the band spent ten days in Joshua Tree to interpret, arrange and record the Living Preface to the Songs of the Tarot. It was recorded live off the floor to quarter-inch tape with Matt Adams of the Blank
Tapes.
