EGPhest is back for it’s third iteration, Saturday, August 11th as matinee show at the Hotel Utah running from 2 to 5 PM.

A showcase that takes place on the occasion of the birthday of E.G. Phillips, a San Francisco based singer-songwriter, EGPhest brings the local music scene together as E.G. invites artists from around the Bay Area to come perform his works as part of an event that celebrates the art of song and performance as well as friendship and community.

Guest artists this year will include some old hands, such as “Phest” veterans Brendan Getzell and Shawn Byron as well as Ken Newman, reprising his version of the “The Fish Song” from last year. There will also be some fresh faces like up and comers Marley Hale and Drew Kebbel. Also joining the line up will be Tohm Lev, an Israeli singer-songwriter based out of New York and San Francisco.

This year’s show will feature a special out of town guest from Madrid, Natali Castillo, who fuses jazz vocalists such as Billie Holiday and Chet Baker with singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchel and Ricki Lee Jones into her folk-jazz stylings. E.G. and Natali met last July at the Hotel Utah when she was on her first California tour and have a show scheduled together in Nashville later in the month.

More performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

This year’s artwork is done by Mario M. Noche, who played last year’s EGPhest and shares the same birthday. And in keeping with tradition, Mario is an open mic host as well as an artist and performer — handling duties at Ireland 32’s on Tuesday nights on a semi-regular basis.
