Inspiration seeped through the windows of apartment 5J on Barrow Street looking out over the Hudson River in NYC’s Greenwich Village, where singer-songwriters Eryn Murman and Jason Hite soaked up the energy and passion of musicians, painters, poets and writers who created the Village vibe. Together, they paid tribute to those creative spirits and named their band 5j Barrow, writing music and lyrics with a unique folk/rock sound, touring as a duo, and often picking up Drew Jones on bass and Gerard Canonico on drums.

Officially launched in the fall of 2011, 5j Barrow has inspired audiences in diverse venues, from the historic Apollo Theater to the open air of Washington Square Park, with soulful music, evocative imagery, and lyrics that touch the heart. 5j Barrow was named “Best Band in NY” after winning The Greene Space WNYC/WQXR’s Battle of the Boroughs 2014. They have built a loyal following on the streets of the city and engage audiences as they currently tour North America with performances that are both intimate and rousing. 5j Barrow released their debut album ‘From the Dim, Sweet Light’ in 2014, and their first installment of three upcoming EPs (The Journey Vol. 1) produced by Grammy nominated producer, David Mayfield, was released October 6th, 2017.

Lightnin' Luke (closing set)
Soulful, passionate, and sincere are the words used most frequently when describing Portland-raised songwriter Lightnin’ Luke. His bluesy vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and wild fiddle playing have made him a versatile musical force in the Rose City’s thriving roots scene. Whether it be as a solo folk and blues singer-songwriter, or in front of his high energy, roots-driven backing band, "the Downpour," or as a fiddler in country and folk bands around the West Coast, the self proclaimed, Lightnin’ Luke gets audience’s emotions running high in every show he performs.

Trained classically on the violin at a young age, Luke played his first show at The Satyricon, the legendary Portland dive, when he was just 14 years-old. During high school, he fronted the Backyard Blues Boys, performing annually at Portland’s Waterfront Blues Festival and throughout the Northwest. He went on to study jazz at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music.

Now back in his hometown, Luke has maintained a busy schedule fiddling with a multitude of local and regional acts, while continuing to play regularly as a solo artist. His new album of original songs will be released in February 2018, with a full North American tour planned in support of the album over the course of the year.
