The Rad Trads

The gentlemen comprising the Brooklyn-based five-piece The Rad Trads distinguish themselves in ways few bands can. Already drawing lines around the block at home, the globe-trotting group’s singular take on rock n’ roll mixes punk rock energy, horn drenched soul, and jazz precision, all with a lighthearted but sincere delivery. It’s a sound and show that is gaining steam world over as The Rad Trads continue to tour in support of On Tap, out now from Hornblow Recordings.

Challenging but humorous, at times The Rad Trads bring to mind Springsteen and his “Big Man” Clarence Clemons, Dylan’s Blood On The Tracks-era vocal style, and Wilco’s epic guitar breakdowns. All of this sonic goodness is only upstaged by the fact that the guys in The Rad Trads manage to exist as five distinct songwriters and singers in a band that still sounds powerfully egoless, familial, and cohesive. And none of them even planned on being vocalists!

Meeting at New York University in 2012 as conservatory-trained instrumentalists looking to play with NYC’s best musicians, twin brothers John (Drums, Vocals) and Michael Fatum (Trumpet, Vocals), Michael Harlen (Bass, Vocals), Alden Harris-McCoy (Guitar, Vocals), and Patrick Sargent (Keys, Saxophone, Vocals) were, at that time, just “a bunch of buds looking to play the bars and drink for free,” according to John Fatum. “The Rad Trads started off with a bastardized jazz repertoire that was modified, on stage, into whatever seemed to get the audience moving.” The band quickly developed a loyal connection with its audiences. Michael Fatum agrees: “It felt amazing.”

Nassab and the Sheep

Nassab and the Sheep are a contemporary, indie music group from San Francisco. Formed in early 2015, Nick Nassab (vocals/guitar), Scott Kirkwood (keys), Joey May (drums), and new addition Brian Vollbrecht (bass) make up the lineup. Former members of San Francisco's Down With May, Nick, Scott, and Joey build from almost a decade of playing together. The Sheep began around bringing Nick's solo record, Alibi (2015) to life with a full group. The experiment evolved into a collective writing process and eventually led to live shows and new music. 2016-2019 have been dedicated to performance and on June 22nd, 2018, Nick released his latest full length Ghosts and Houses after a year in the studio. The Sheep blend a mixture of indie rock, jazz, folk, funk, and dance!

The SoulShake

It all started back in 2007 when Domenic and Charlie met. While ditching class Charlie was introduced to Domenic Bianco. As they sat in a backyard in Petaluma Charlie took notice to the Children of Bodom sweatshirt Domenic was wearing. Being a metalhead himself, Charlie asked Domenic about his interest in metal music and eventually the guitar. Domenic lived a couple houses down and quickly took Charlie to his room, the shred den in his parents garage. It was in these early moments that the fire had been ignited and their friendship was born! Domenic was a singer songwriter who began to make a name for himself through the years. It was in 2015 when the two would move in together and expand far past their guitar playing. The two would pick up and learn new instruments and began writing songs together. Soon after Domenic Bianco and the SoulShake began performing and would eventually record their first album, A Little Peace in the Puzzle, in 2017. After a few unexpected hurdles and a passion to further their dreams Domenic and Charlie were in search for a drummer. Perhaps a drummer with charisma and a kind heart, a potential brother with whom they could spread the message of love through music. They placed an ad on craigslist, not including those terms, nor expecting to find a gem. Their very first reply garnered a response from a man… John Hendricks. He was the gem they were looking for and eventually joined the two on their journey of traveling the world by means of music - always spreading positivity, love, and SoulShakin’vibes.
