Queen Solomon

Ages 21+
Poster Girl, Chris Marsol, Queen Solomon at the Hotel Utah Saloon in San Francisco !  Show begins at 8pm.

Newly formed San Francisco band Poster Girl is here to combine different styles of rock and inspire you with powerful lyrics and songwriting. They are an example of what can happen when strangers with the same passion for writing and performing music find each other on the wonderful world of Craigslist.

In the early 2000s, Chris Marsol's signature voice and songwriting caught the attention of Interscope/Universal Records Executives, one of whom decided to take Chris under his wing and co-manage the budding artist. Steered by management into a more traditional R&B direction and with several major label meetings lined up, Chris made the unexpected decision to abruptly part-ways with his team to follow his own inner muse of alternative rock, pop and soul.

Chris re-tooled his sound into a seamless blend of rock, soul and electronic soundscapes on his debut album Rockit Science in 2005. The album saw Chris opening up for acts like The Roots and Lyrics Born and won him critical acclaim and press accolades, eventually catching the attention of Universal Records imprint HeiroEmporium (Heiroglyphics, Souls of Mischief). In 2010, the label released Chris’s second full-length LP Butterflies Lipstick & Hand Grenades, whose lead single “3 in the Morning” received national and international airplay.

In his latest iteration, Chris maintains his signature intersection of genres on his soon to be released 3rd full-length album Time Is A Circus. Circus goes many places, from groovy R&B to indie pop vibes. Soulful vocals with almost gospel-like layers of harmonies permeate his music. Electronic/acoustic beats with distorted guitars and synths bring the groove. Throw in acoustic guitars underneath and you’ve got the sonic ingredients that stir together to create Chris’s signature and unique vibration.

When he’s not rocking with his full band, Chris performs a solo acoustic set. Marsol’s solo unplugged show highlights songs from Circus as well as a few indie pop/rock covers and pairs his signature vocals with an acoustic guitar-laden groove.
