DHK has been described in iTunes as "The shorthand rock-speak for this Seattle-based singer/songwriter’s debut collection of full-band Americana could be “Wilco meets Springsteen.” With a raspy voice that sounds scarred by whiskey and cigars—certainly older than an early thirtysomething—it’s easy to make comparisons to The Boss and Jeff Tweedy."

The highlight of 2012 for MerryGold was winning the Race to TRI Studios contest. The studio - owned and operated by Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead - selected MerryGold as top-10 finalists out of over 500 entries. The public then voted MerryGold and their song “Sweet Lilly” as the winner. In December of 2012, the band recorded audio and video for 3 songs at TRI Studios (www.tristudios.com/videos).

MerryGold began as the songwriting duo of Jillian Secor (guitar, vocals) and Alex Stephens (guitar, mandolin, vocals). The lineup currently includes bass, banjo, and accordion as well. Based in the small northern California town of Placerville, themes of the Gold Country are abundant in their music. Their whiskey-soaked folk/bluegrass songs take listeners back to simpler times and portray a rawness that embodies the pioneer spirit of the Wild West. While traditional folk and bluegrass themes are apparent in their music, MerryGold incorporates a wide variety of influences to create their own sound.

February 2012 marked the release of their second full-length album, “Good and Gone.”

The Strangelights (closing set)
The Strangelights are bringing their brand of California psychedelic rock fused with a Post-Punk/New Wave sensibility to a galaxy near you… The quartet formed in 2008 and includes lead singer and keyboardist Beau Phillips, vocals and guitars by Leland Vandermulen, bass by Michael Harris and drums and by Matty Goss. Some of their most downloaded jams include "Pretty Girls In White," a hypnotic prog rocker that somehow landed in an 80's new wave club like the Hacienda in Manchester, UK, "The Wanderer" a Steely Dan influenced rocker, their ska-disco marriage of jangle rock in "Free In The Night" and look for the driving and spooky "Head Down The Road" - which has dazzled audiences at Strangelight shows, to be the first single from their upcoming EP.

The Strangelights debut album was recorded from 2009 to 2010 in English Hills, CA and produced and engineered by Rick Lucas and The Strangelights. They recorded a 3 song EP during the summer of 2012 and are gearing up to launch the release of both projects as well their homepage www.thestrangelights.com. Until then, a many of their songs can be streamed at www.soundcloud.com/thestrangelights .
