Human Animation Lab
Human Animation Lab
Human Animation Lab is San Francisco's newest alternative hard rock~ electronic band who relocated this Feb 2012 from Pittsburgh PA where they get their unique east coast twist on a powerful melodic groove. After releasing their first EP "Begins Like It Ends" HAL has much in store for the cities rock scene. Many say HAL has a presence of Pink Floyd, NIN, Incubus, & Tool but still having a unique clever sound that is "different, but I like it" approach by many listeners. Music can be heard at www.halband.net but the full experience can only be seen live Nov 17 at the Hotel Utah.

In 1977 a team of scientists at NASA, led by Carl Sagan, prepared a golden record filled with audio recordings of the Earth's myriad musical cultures. They mounted this record onto the Voyager 1 and 2 intertstellar probes- the first man-made items to ever leave our solar system. In 2012, Extraterrestrials found the Voyager probe in outer space and heard the songs on the Golden Record. Impressed with humanity's talent- but fearful for its tendency toward self-destruction- they beamed a remix of the earthling's music that accompanied a lyrical message to all of this planet's inhabitants. Upon receiving the extraterrestrial transmission, Drew Annis (keys/vocals), Geoff McCann(guitar/keys/vocals), Kevin McCann (samples/keyboards) and Blake Degraw(drums and trombone) formed a band to perform the Golden Record Remix and spread the alien's message of peace and enviromental justice. Tektite is based in Oakland, California.

"It begins when we cease to strive for the effect our causes, and simply open ourselves to one another to allow that which naturally gravitates to become one. That is the moment of creation. That is when we are born again in the experience of each other."

It was August of 2008, in the peak of a California summer, where a seemingly serendipitous encounter between guitarist, Alex Zigo, and drummer, David Lall, took place. While casual at first, both knew that there was something deeper waiting to be realized. In time, the band developed with the introduction of bassist Dave Sahlem, culminating in their first EP, "Lacustrine Dream". Though raw and unrefined, it laid the groundwork for the sound that would come to define them. Only one element was lacking, the melodic stylings of guitarist Daniel Escobedo. And after joining up with the group in late autumn of 2010, Scarlet Stoic was fully realized. Now, with their best work still come, the band showcases their acoustic culminations all around the San Francisco bay area.
