Roem Baur
Roem Baur
Roem Baur is a San Francisco based singer-songwriter with a "stirring vocal range and a passion for his music" (Nina Ragonese, WMATT) that proves to be worthy of the unusual distinction of his epithet (which came to his young, single mother in a dream shortly before he was born). A classically trained tenor with a four octave range and award-winning singer (MAMA and Elly Awards), Baur has begun to distinguish himself in the San Francisco scene with his unconventional takes on blues, soul and folk music coupled with the wit and energy he brings to his live performances. Baur's song work also draws inspiration from 60's folk music, his early operatic training and years of touring internationally in choirs. Describing what inspires him, he says, “When I listen to great soul singers, like the late Etta James for example, I just listen to her sing a simple line, and there’s truth and brokenness, it’s internal. There is anger, triumph--everything. There is a complete story happening in every line. That’s a lesson for me.” As he takes the leap from performing singer-songwriter to a fuller, more realized sound, Baur's band will include organ, tuba, bass trombone, guitar and drums. "The new band is a concept I've had running around my head for years - orchestra meets blues and soul. When the right talents come together and the planets align... you get a chance to do something really special. This sound is hard to explain even to fellow musicians who haven't heard it. It's something you feel."
King Taylor Project
King Taylor Project
Sandi King and Joshua Taylor formed King Taylor Project in 2016 in San Diego, California. Conceived as a flexible platform based on their shared love of soul, blues, and jazz music, KTP features a roster of energetic improvisational musicians supporting soulful vocal performances. Davyrockett (David Ryan Norgren) is the primary bassist and core collaborator with KTP who's many contributions to KTP include backing vocals, auxiliary instruments, arrangement, and featured songs with Davy on guitar and lead vocals. Since their launch in February of 2016, KTP has appeared for more than 130 performances in formats ranging from duo/trio to 8-piece band, in settings including bar/restaurant gigs, private parties and weddings, local fairs and festivals, and local radio and television appearances. They completed their first two tours in 2016 and are currently booking dates for several tours in 2017, which will include the band's first full national trek. Sandi and Josh have begun writing new material, and they are proud to share the stage with a wonderful group of collaborators whose contributions will extend to the studio for the first KTP album.

Lilan Kane
"Lilan Kane sounds like she's ready for pop stardom."
– Paul Liberatore, Marin Independent Journal

Lilan Kane brings a new feel to a classic genre. Lush with addicting progressions, smooth soulful vocals, and hints of contemporary jazz, her newly released album Love, Myself boasts the aesthetic of 1960's soul anthems. After releasing it earlier this year to a sold out crowd at Yoshi's, the record has continued to garner positive reviews and listens around the world. "This album really captures reflects the music I grew up on, blending contemporary sound influenced by old soul music," explains Kane. Audiences connect with her heartfelt lyrics of love and life as she pours her heart and soul into every live performance.

The soulful singer-songwriter hails from Marin County where she grew up singing and playing piano. She graduated from Berklee College of Music and moved to NYC soon after before settling back to her Bay Area roots. Her stylish stilettos have graced the stages at The Mint, The Whisky A Go-Go, The Regency Ballroom, The Great American Music Hall, Boom Boom Room, Yoshi's, Fillmore Jazz Fest, San Jose Jazz Fest, San Jose Soul Festival, and more. She has shared the stage with Morgan James, Lenny Williams, Freddie Hughes, Delta Rae, J. Cole, among others. She has also been featured on KCSM, KPFA, KPOO, and Time Warner Cable Manhattan. Her voice provided the soundtrack for a Peet's Coffee commercial and her song "Separate Lives (Remix)" was recently released on The Hurst Selection Vol. 3 released (Atlanta Records/Rope-A-Dope Records).
