I was raised in the small town of Newmarket NH, nestled on the banks of the Lamprey River, one of many rivers that flow into the Great Bay. It was a great place to grow up with so much support from friends and the community. I began my musical journey at age ten when I took up the clarinet and four years later the french horn. I can remember listening to my parents albums, not typical of someone my age because they were younger. They had Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin III, the Monkees. Finish that off with the rise of MTV to form a an influential base from classical to pop. As many young boys do I started playing the guitar on my own. When I was asked to play guitar in the jazz band at school I began taking lessons from Dennis Monroe a Graduate of Musicians Institute GIT.

After graduating high school and a short stint at UNH, on the recommendation of my guitar teacher, I moved to Hollywood California in Sept. of 88 to attended MI's Guitar Institute of Technology. After graduating from GIT I quickly tired of living in Los Angeles and in 91 moved north to the San Francisco bay area where I've been ever since. Jeff Cotton’s Gin Joint is my all originals band and I currently play guitar and mandolin in the JJ Schultz Band, Toy House, as well as sitting in with bands and solo artists. By day I am the string repair man at an old school music store in South San Francisco called Bronstein Music--it's been there since 1946! Bronstein's offers lessons, repairs, band instrument rentals (clarinet, french horn anyone?). By night I handle the sound technician/repairs at the Hotel Utah Saloon in San Francisco. The Utah has live music seven nights a week from all over the world and great national acts that have performed on Conan, Leno, Letterman, and Carson Daly. I'm truly blessed to love what I do. If it hadn't been for the strong support of music in my early school years I don't believe I would be who and where I am today. Music has opened doors, bridged divides and connected us to things that might not have been possible without it. Thanks to everyone.
